Reading and Writing

Questionaire and Essay  I want to share the results of our latest class activity, which included both a reading comprehension exercise and a writing essay . First, we completed a reading task based on an article called "A New Learning Age" , which explains how technologies like mixed reality are used to train future doctors. After analyzing that text, we developed an argumentative essay about the advantages and challenges of technology in education. Below, you can see the final result of this academic practice. Questions Essay Nowadays, we have access to a variety of digital materials. It is worth mentioning that not everyone can afford new devices or an internet connection at home. However, there are accessible options, like digital libraries, youtube videos, podcast, collaboration groups, documentaries, etc, so people can study without spending much money. Furthermore, technology increases student motivation because it allows teachers to adapt classes quickly to their stud...

Experimenting Lesson Plan

My First Experience with Lesson Plan As an administrative worker currently training to become an English teacher, I am always looking for ways to bridge the gap between theory and the reality of the classroom. In this post, I want to share my honest experience using a lesson plan designed for primary school children who have absolutely no previous knowledge of English. The main goal of the lesson was simple but necessary: teaching them how to say their name and their age. I think in my learning process I must go from the simpler to the complex.  Reflection My first significant takeaway as a teacher relates to the breakdown in instruction clarity. Although I carefully modeled the interaction using a hand puppet and applied choral repetition, many students could not differentiate between the question and the answer. When I produced the target structure, they simply repeated the question back to me instead of responding. Therefore, I will use a double-voice contrast to translate the s...

Sharing how english was learned or adquired by my classmates

Imagen
Sharing experiences with my classmates During a class on the Development of oral & written skills, our professor divided us into small groups of three to share our personal stories about how we learned English. We had to answer some questions that the teacher gave us as a guide. It was a great opportunity to hear different experiences, but after listening to my two classmates, I realized one method was clearly the most effective. In the audio link below, I explain our group's discussion and focus on why a natural and learning through real-life practice and exposure to language is the best way to adquire another language rather than just memorizing grammar rules.  Activity Reflection This activity was a great eye-opener for me. Listening to Carlos's story made me realize that true language acquisition happens when you are exposed to the language and feel a real need to communicate to get ahead. Since I want to improve my own skills, this inspired me to look for communitie...

Action Research: Bridging the Gap: Using Scaffolding Strategies to Adapt the English Curriculum for First-Year Secondary Students in Puebla

Action Research: Bridging the Gap: Using Scaffolding Strategies to Adapt the English Curriculum for First-Year Secondary Students in Puebla   I want to talk about a very real and difficult problem in Mexican public education. Most children in elementary schools do not have English classes, but when they enter middle school, their textbooks require an advanced B1 level. This creates a huge learning gap, and students get frustrated very fast. As a future secondary teacher, I wanted to find a real solution, so in this presentation, I explain my Action Research project. I will show you how we can use scaffolding strategies and the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) to adapt the heavy curriculum. Watch the video to see how simple visual aids and sentence frames can help our students understand the lessons and finally bridge this difficult gap. It is important to mention that my action research focuses on middle school because that is where I will teach in the future with this degree. Ho...

Sanamente libremente

Reflection about the course Sanamente Libremente I want to share a very important reflection based on my experience in the course "SanaMente LibreMente". As future English teachers, we usually focus a lot on lesson plans and grammar, but this course really opened my eyes to something bigger. I learned that academic success goes hand in hand with mental health, and that our classrooms must be safe spaces for everyone. In the video, I talk about key ideas like emotional literacy, creating a culture of trust, and how to help students without using labels. I also discuss the challenges we might face with topics like addiction prevention and cultural taboos. I truly believe that behavior is a way of communication, so we need to be a bridge to support our students. I hope this video helps us rethink our role as educators! Reflection      To be honest, this assignment was a real challenge for me . At first, it was a bit frustrating to  know that I have to record 3 or 4 time...

TBL_TYPES OF TASKS

Imagen
As a possible future English teacher in a public middle school, I have to look for ideas for my future classes. Teenagers often get bored with traditional grammar rules, so we need something different. New Methodologies are being used to struggle with this problem. One of these methodologies is Task-Based Learning (TBL), a famous framework refined by Jane Willis. What I love about this method is that it flips the traditional classroom order. Instead of starting with traditional method, students immediately start working on a real-world task in groups and with a curriculum that is adapted to the interest and student’s needs (meaningful). This dynamic creates a real need for them to communicate and use the language. Only at the very end of the class do we analyze the grammar and correct mistakes. In this post, I will share an overview about this interesting tool. https://youtu.be/VM4AtQcIT4s Reflection This topic really changed my perspective on teaching. I learned how to structure a dyn...
